Florence

Here is where the Renaissance was born, thanks to the Medici family and others. Here is where Botticelli's famed "The Birth of Venus" is on display in the Uffizi Museum while, nearby, the Statue of David towers inside L'Academia.

Florence (Firenze in Italian) is the cultural, historical and governmental center of Tuscany. You can fly, drive, bus and even take a train in and out of the region.

Florence is easily accessile, thanks for major rail lines, air and the Autostrada highway system. You can take the train to Bolognia and Venice to the east, Milan to the north, Lucca and Pisa to the west and, of course, Rome and other points south.

By car, you can go anywhere.
